This Monday, the candidate of the Citizen Revolution (RC) party and finalist in the second round of the presidential ballot in Ecuador, Luisa González, reported irregularities in the electoral process last Sunday.
According to the candidate, her team faced obstacles both in supervising each polling station and in delivering minutes, which, according to her, has affected the results.
González said that, had it not been for the inconsistencies presented by the National Electoral Council (CNE), his party would be in first place. The candidate expressed distrust of the electoral body and accused her president of being part of the campaign of the current president, Daniel Noboa.
“This has been a fight between David and Goliat,” said González, referring to the difficult electoral contest he faces, Telesur details on its website.
He also criticized the results of the polling stations launched by Noboa, which predicted a victory in the first round. He also accused the current candidate for re-election of using the country's funds to finance his campaign, which he considered a violation of electoral transparency.
