This Tuesday, through a statement, the Confederation of Indigenous Peasant Organizations of Ecuador (FEI) announced its support for the candidate of the Citizen Revolution party, Luisa Gonzalez, for the second round of elections.

After the announcement, FEI stressed that “the Citizens' Revolution emerged as a political and social response to the collapse of an obsolete oligarchic system, which historically neglected the needs of the population and used the state apparatus for its own benefit and that of power groups.”

They also point out that the support is framed in the profound political and social transformations that marked a before and after in the history of Ecuador, consolidating the constitutional principle of prioritizing the human being over capital as the governing axis of public management.

“While the living conditions of citizens improved significantly, the former dominant elites, accustomed to their privileges, were preparing their counteroffensive to slow down and dismantle the advance of progressivism. Added to this is the interference of imperialist governments, such as the United States (USA),” the statement details.
