The rider Edwin Torres, from the Lotería del Táchira, won the second stage of the Vuelta al Táchira with a time of 3 hours 38 minutes 80 seconds.
Torres dominated the 157.4 kilometer route, from the city of San Cristóbal, in the state of Táchira, to the city of Santa Bárbara de Barinas.
The Venezuelan was accompanied on the podium by Brandon Rojas from the Colombian national team and the third place went to the youth team Arlex Méndez of the Alicanto Group Kino Táchira.
“ All I can say is thank God. I came with a lot of leg pain and lack of concentration from the stage, and I wanted my teammates to respond more at the end. Already entering Santa Bárbara, I knew we could,” said Torres, press review by the Ministry of Sports.
He also said that in the last corner his chain came off, but it didn't get out of control. “In the last few meters I started to accelerate. They almost took my stage away, but I saw out of the blue that it wasn't going to happen to me,” he said.
Despite the great work done by Torres on the second day, Jhonny Araujo maintains the jersey as the leader of the lap with a time of 7:22.1; Gregory Guevara as the best sprinter; while Arlex Méndez took over the youth section for the second consecutive day as the best U23.
This Tuesday 14th, the third chapter of this round will take place, which will start from Santa Bárbara de Barinas and arrive in Bolivia City within the same state.
