This space is designed to stimulate or inhibit the senses in a controlled and pleasant way.
Its main objective is to promote the well-being, relaxation and development of people with diverse needs, especially those with intellectual disabilities, and neurodevelopmental disorders.
The room is specially designed for neurosensory stimulation, an approach of great relevance to meeting the specific needs of the neurodiverse population and people with diverse cognitive disorders.
In addition, it has the capacity to care for eight people a day equivalent to 160 patients per month, through sessions of 45 minutes each, thanks to the service of seven specialists including psychologists, doctors and psychopedagogues, facilitating access for families with limited resources.
Among the elements found in the room are: lamps and light projectors of different colors, shapes and intensities, luminous fibers, buttons, switches and touch panels that activate lights and sounds, mirrors and all kinds of reflective surfaces, objects with shapes, colors, materials, textures, hardness of all kinds, columns of bubbles, objects that produce sounds when touched, aroma diffusers, perfumed objects, elements for relaxation such as mattresses, puffs, armchairs, music players, musical instruments a water bed with vibration to the beat of the music.
A role model for Venezuela
This initiative will not only benefit the population of Aragua, but it has also been proposed as a model for other Venezuelan states to follow.
The focus on neurosensory stimulation and comprehensive care for neurodiverse people could lay the groundwork for similar projects across the country.
Governor Carpio expressed her conviction that this will be a milestone, since it is the first public Neurosensory Room in Venezuela. “I am extremely proud that Aragua is the pioneer in this type of room at the public level and that from our instances we can join these activities and perhaps bring one of these rooms to each municipality,” she said.
In this regard, he announced that soon the comprehensive rehabilitation of the “House of Blue Dreams” will be delivered, which occupies 3,000 square meters and will include waterproofing, air conditioning, ambience, lighting, installation of doors, bathrooms, kitchens, dental rooms and more, “all with the purpose of caring for our children in the blue family.
For her part, the national president of CONAPDIS, Soraida Ramírez, said she was extremely proud, since this room will offer multiple benefits for children and adolescents, allowing neurodevelopment and that, thanks to this room, psychosocial monitoring is as important as the work carried out by the Foundation.
In addition, the Regional Director of the FNNSA, Nakary Motta, highlighted that this service will be available from Monday to Friday, and people can register through a link posted on the official Instagram account.
“We are available to you with a team of nine specialists who will decide if the patient should be stimulated and inhibited,” he said after explaining that tests will be carried out to determine all the patients' needs.
First National Congress on Neurodiversity
The consolidation of this Neurosensory Room has its origin in the success of the 1st National Congress on Neurodiversity, held in June 2024, at the Maracay Opera Theater.
“We have made a joint effort and in less than a year, we have obtained the first result of the Neurodiversity Congress,” Motta added.
This event brought together during 2024 prominent national and international speakers, who shared knowledge and experiences of great impact on the subject.
The high participation and interest generated by the congress evidenced the need to create specialized spaces such as this room.
This project symbolizes the commitment of the FNNSA and the state of Aragua to the well-being of the neurodiverse population, setting a positive precedent in the country.
With this important work, the Neurosensory Room promises to be a key space for the care and development of people with special needs.
This fact is a reflection of the commitment of authorities and health professionals to building a more inclusive and supportive society.
