On Monday, the magnate Elon Musk questioned the way to vote in the elections in the United States (USA), a country that boasts of being a “great democracy” and attacks those who do not align with its way of doing politics.

“In the U.S., you don't need a government-issued ID to vote and you can mail your ballot. This is crazy,” Musk said through his X account, the social network he owns.

On November 5, the presidential elections will be held in the North American country, where the current president Joe Biden and his opponent in the 2020 elections, former President Donald Trump, are expected to face each other.

In the United States, presidential and vice-presidential elections are not determined entirely by popular vote. The inhabitants of the country vote for the candidates, but their votes are not received by those candidates directly, but through an Electoral College. In other words, Americans vote for the voters and they choose the president.

In most states of the North American country, an identity document is not required to vote, but it is enough to register in advance as a voter and, on the day of the vote, go to the place, say your name and surname and sign the ballot. The voter's signature is verified with that of the registration and this is sufficient to participate in the elections.
