The Minister of Popular Power for Culture, Ernesto Villegas, highlighted this Wednesday the defeat that the suspension of the X Summit of the Americas, which was scheduled for the month of December in the Dominican Republic, represents for the imperialism of the United States (USA).
During his participation in the forum “Fight against the FTAA: a peoples' challenge”, regarding the 20th anniversary of the historic defeat of the Free Trade Area for the Americas (FTAA), Villegas pointed out that “the leadership of the Bolivarian Revolution deserves recognition, because that battle of (Hugo) Chávez has had a future, it has had a projection in the circumstances that current generations have had to live in”.
From the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies Rómulo Gallegos (CELARG), in Caracas, he stressed that “it has gone under the table because the enemy, of course, is not going to celebrate his own defeat, he invents 1000 different elements to control damage, but the suspension of the Summit of the Americas is a second blow to the liver of imperialism, of the same historical stature as 20 years ago, as was the defeat of the FTAA”, in the Summit of the Americas in Mar del Plata, Argentina.
“Chávez was present, he led the battle, and now our president Nicolás Maduro, rather, using the strength of the enemy as in judo, not being present, is the great winner. Maduro is the winner of the battle of the Dominican Republic and he forfeited imperialism,” Villegas emphasized.
