Last Saturday, April 5th, the
Alejandro Otero Museum (MAO) opened its doors for the exhibition “On Wheels”
by the self-taught artist Noel Lezama, which has 14 pieces full of
reality and fantasy, the creator transformed the daily life of the city into art.
The exhibitor shows the scenario that
surrounds Caracas and other cities in the country, where traffic, peddlers,
cars, buses, motorcycles and citizens are the protagonists of this tribute.
During the inauguration, the Deputy Minister of Arts, Image and Space of the Ministry of Popular Power for Culture (MPPC), Mary Pemjean, were
present, together with the
directors
of the MAO, Efraín Rojas, and of the Arturo Michelena Museum, Abraham Fernández.
Pemjean expressed the importance of
recognizing and publicizing the creations of the country's artists, such as Lezama, who comes from the
city of Los Teques, Miranda state. At the same
time, the colorful work of the exhibitor stood out, who used different waste
materials in his works, such as cardboard and plastic, among others.
“It recreates a daily life for
us, what we normally live in the streets of our colorful Venezuela, which can
sometimes be like chaos, among the crowds of people, buses,
motorized vehicles, among others, but it is our wonderful chaos that we always
need,” he said.
For his part, Rojas stated that “On Wheels” will be on display until July 5, and invited the population to approach the MAO, which during energy savings weeks will be open from 9:00am to 2:00pm, from Tuesday to Friday, and from 1:00pm to 5:00pm, on weekends and holidays.
