Deputies of the standing committee on families, freedom of religion and worship of the National Assembly, together with representatives of the Venezuelan Federation of Digital Sports, reviewed the Bill for the Reform of the Law for the Protection of Children and Adolescents in Internet, Video Games and Other Multimedia Rooms.
The president of the parliamentary body, deputy Asia Villegas, explained that the meeting held last Wednesday aimed to find a balance in this field and ensure that children and adolescents have a safe environment where they can enjoy and learn.
In this regard, according to a press release from the AN, Villegas added that the idea is to create a standard that allows regulation, not limiting access to technology.
Meanwhile, the deputy Carlos Pacheco, commented that one of the central points of the project is the implementation of measures that require video game rooms to have parental control systems and protocols to monitor accessible content.
He explained that it is proposed to create educational campaigns aimed at parents and caregivers so that they can guide children and adolescents in their interaction with the digital world.
For their part, representatives of the Venezuelan Digital Sports Federation highlighted the positive role that video games can play in cognitive and social development, provided they are used sparingly and under appropriate supervision.
