In order to learn about the work proposals of the agro-urban and agro-urban sectors in the El Topo, Tacagua Vieja and Ojo de Agua sectors, Jhoanna Carrillo, head of the Ministry of Popular Power of Urban Agriculture (Minppau) held a meeting with producers who live in Tacagua Vieja, located in the Gual y España commune, Bolivarian Libertador municipality in Caracas.

Jorel García, spokesperson responsible for the agro-producer sector of the Future Venezuela Movement, in that Commune, expressed a few words of thanks to the Minister for visiting this space and stated that they have producers who are engaged in the breeding of pig, poultry and aquaculture animals, as well as the planting of vegetables and vegetables.

He stressed that this population is committed to agri-food production for the people, as well as to President Nicolás Maduro Moros.

“There are committed men and women here, there are more than 65 who work every day to produce food,” he said.

For his part, Julio Rivero, producer of the La Cruz sector, in Ojo de Agua, not organized in the La Esperanza Community Council, assured that all the productive work they have is self-managed.

“Here we fight, we have needs and we strengthen each other. We have been doing little work, with effort, to develop ourselves,” he said.

He explained that in the area they are building a popular market with the objective of receiving all the crops that farmers in the area bring. “We started with 25 plots, now we have 63 plots, we are struggling with sacrifices,” he added.

After touring the productive areas of the swine area, Jhoanna Carrillo, head of the Ministry of Urban Agriculture, specified that “here there is a will that produces”, and recalled the period of abundance that the population experienced with Commander Chávez.

“We had the most extraordinary abundance in our country. Chávez taught us that we had to fight for the things we wanted, that there were no limits.” He also recalled the history that the Venezuelan population experienced in the years 2013 and 2014 and explained that today the people have overcome some things.

The minister said that with the effects of the sanctions imposed by the North American empire, that out of every 100 people, 36 were harmed; “those 36 people only ate one plate of food a day.” He added that many people hesitated and left the country. He stressed that within the Homeland Plan, the Bolivarian Revolution generates more education and health, so there are a set of missions for the care of the Venezuelan people.

Carrillo explained that President Nicolás Maduro talks about the seven transformations, including economy, discipline, method, recognition, passion, ethics and industriousness.

“Nicolás Maduro has been our President and I say this with all responsibility and I want you to give each other a loud applause because it was you who brought this country forward with agri-food production,” he said.
