FIFA and UEFA are silent in the case of Israel and ratify Russia's veto for their competitions

The International Federation of Associated Football (FIFA) and the European Union of Football Associations (UEFA) decided to maintain the veto of Russia and their national team will not participate in the 2026 World Cup to be held in the United States, Mexico and Canada

The European team will not play in the world cup or in the national or club tournaments organized by UEFA.

Russia has not been able to participate in international competitions organized under the umbrella of FIFA and UEFA since 2022, including the 2022 Qatar World Cup and Euro 2024, which has affected both the competitive level of Russian football and its presence on the international scene.

FIFA and UEFA use the conflict between Russia and Ukraine as an excuse, however, they have not yet responded to the request of more than 10 countries who, based on that same argument, asked for the veto of Israel's soccer teams for the genocide they commit against Palestine, which has caused more than 44,000 deaths, mostly children and women.
