First Venezuelan forward returns to the country with 14 medals from the II Parasuramerican Games Valledupar

The first advance of the national delegation that participated in the II Parasuramerican Games Valledupar 2026 returns to the country this Thursday, July 9, after winning 14 medals: three gold, four silver and seven bronze medals on Colombian soil.

The first gold medal for the delegation came thanks to the national flag bearer, Richard Espinoza, who was crowned in the road para-cycling event, class H3, when he stopped the stopwatch at 1:04:22, giving the country an emotional celebration.

In the parapower, Clara Fuentes staged a historic performance in the -50 kg category, successfully completing lifts of 105 kg, 110 kg and 115 kg in her official attempts to win a gold medal in total.

Later, he set a new Pan-American record by lifting 122 kg, surpassing the previous continental record of 121 kg.

Also in the parapower, Andrés Díaz won the -54 kg category by lifting 161 kg in his first attempt and 168 kg in the third, to close with a sum of 329 kg that awarded him the gold medal.

The four silver medals were won by Yoleidy Fernández in table paratenis class 4, Roberto Quijada in class 3 of that same discipline, in addition to Dilmary Oviedo and Carlos Betancourt in parapotency.

The seven bronze medals came thanks to the mixed team and women's parapower team, as well as to Jhonatan Montero, Amada Bastidas, Wiunawis Hernández, the duo formed by Yoleidy Fernández and Roberto Quijada in the mixed doubles of table paratensis and the men's volleyball team.

The competitive calendar includes the start of parabadminton, boccia and parathation on Sunday, July 11; parathletics will begin on Monday the 12th and the parathyro will start on the 13th.
