The
Minister of Popular Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil Pinto,
responded to the Undersecretary of State, Brian Nichols, after the
statement of the U.S. official regarding the arrests made
by the Venezuelan Security Corps of promoters and participants in acts of vandalism.
Nichols described the arrests as “repression”
and assured that they are not “a sustainable path nor are they a sign of strength.
The voices of Venezuelan voters will not be silenced by
repression, censorship or disinformation. The world is watching”
In this regard, the head of peace diplomacy described the United States as
the “promoters of violence and the coup d'etat” and rebuked Nichols
about what “political persecution” he is referring to.
“The
commandos of the Tren del Llano? Who persecuted and beat innocent Chavistas?
The ones who burned schools and hospitals? Those who sprayed
gasoline on people to burn them alive? The ones who burned more than 300 police
modules? Who shot to assassinate officials of the Bolivarian National
Guard? Who are they calling for a coup d'etat and
are the institutions unaware of?” , he questioned.
Gil
added that “no alliance with drug gangs and criminals
can be considered a political action,” and he assured that “
criminal gangs will be brought to justice.”
