The Minister of Popular Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, said this Friday that Latin America and the Caribbean responded with one voice to the hatred promoted by the Secretary of State of the United States (USA), Marco Rubio, against Venezuela and the region.

“Today more than ever, united Latin American countries (...) We have seen a statement from most of the CELAC countries that have come to the forefront and have ratified their adherence and defense” to Latin America as a Zone of Peace, highlighted the Venezuelan Foreign Minister in a telephone contact with Venezolana de Televisión (VTV).

Gil's statements came after a statement issued by the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) rejecting the U.S. military deployment in the region.

“The whole world has stood up and said to Marco Rubio, to the United States, to his cabal, this is a region of peace. We do not tolerate threats and their militarism,” he stressed.

The diplomat pointed out that President Nicolas Maduro “has managed to unite all the wills of Latin America and give the answer to that hatred that Marco Rubio wants to sow, to that hatred that the so-called 'crazy Cuban' want to sow, the madness of this mayamera who tries to hijack the foreign policy of the United States and direct an arms race in this region.”

In this regard, he ratified that “Latin America will not tolerate arms races, Latin America will not tolerate military deployments and, specifically in the case of Venezuela, we will not tolerate it either and we will do everything that needs to be done to defend our Homeland,” he emphasized.
