The Minister of People's Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, said this Wednesday that some officials of international organizations are trying to cover up the diversion of funds destined for alleged “humanitarian aid” in Venezuela, with the purpose of “washing the faces of the corrupt.”

Referring to a recent report presented by the United Nations (UN), which cites that 3.5 million people benefited from part of the money managed by agencies such as USAID, Foreign Minister Gil stressed that these funds never reached Venezuelans who needed it. “They sell us misleading numbers to hide the scandal that is about to erupt,” he criticized.

The Venezuelan diplomat indicated that these resources were used for political and non-humanitarian purposes, assuring that the “money ended up in bank accounts abroad, in financing for media campaigns and in the organization of violent acts”, in addition to serving to enrich leaders of the extremist opposition.

“Now, faced with the imminent fall of the House of Lies, they are presenting inflated reports to pretend that they did something. What happened was a corruption and sabotage operation, disguised as 'humanitarian aid'”, he emphasized.
