The Minister of Popular Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, stated that Venezuela is not seeking a military confrontation with the United States (USA) or with any other regional actor, in the midst of the constant aggressions caused by the Donald Trump Administration against the Bolivarian nation.

“We are not betting on conflict nor do we want conflict,” said the Venezuelan Foreign Minister in an interview with CNN. Although he ruled out a military escalation, he stressed that Venezuela is prepared “to dissuade the possibility of deployment and we have a clear determination to defend our homeland,” he emphasized.

Gil praised the position of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), which recently expressed its deep concern about the military deployment that occurred in the region, in a statement where the block “asks for respect for the peace zone decreed in 2014.”

In reference to the alleged military attack announced by the United States against a vessel in the Caribbean, the diplomat said that there is no clarity about what happened. “They showed a video without clarifying a lot of things. It's not clear where it went, who was going, if it really happened or not. The only thing we've seen is a video, but nothing else,” he lashed.
