Foreign Minister Yván Gil participates in events to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Suriname's Independence

On behalf of the
Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, the Minister of
People's Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, participates in the
commemorative events for the 50th anniversary of Suriname's Independence.
First,
the Venezuelan delegation attended the Extraordinary Session of the National Assembly of Suriname, led by the president
of the Caribbean country, Jennifer Geerlings-Simons.
“On behalf of President Nicolás Maduro, Venezuela
is in Paramaribo to join the Government and the Surinamese people in
this significant milestone that we celebrate with pride throughout the Caribbean region,”
said the Foreign Minister on his Telegram channel.
Later,
the diplomat and his entourage were present at the “majestic parade of the Surinamese
Armed Forces at Independence Square in Paramaribo, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the independence of
the Surinamese people, an event that
marked the beginning of a new path towards sovereignty, self-determination and the integration of Suriname with sister nations in the Caribbean”.
In this regard, “Venezuela
reaffirms its commitment to friendship and cooperation with Suriname, as well as
our firm joint stance in defense of the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace,
” Gil added.
