The Minister of People's Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, received this Tuesday the style copies of the new ambassador appointed by the State of Qatar to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Salman Nabit Mubarak Abdullah Al-Khulaifi.

During the protocol ceremony, held at the Casa Amarilla Antonio José de Sucre, in Caracas, the Venezuelan Foreign Minister welcomed the Qatari diplomat on behalf of President Nicolás Maduro, to whom he will soon present Credentials.

“We take this opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to strengthening solid bilateral relations, including cooperation and investment in areas of mutual interest, thus promoting a path of friendship and shared progress,” Gil said in a post on his Telegram channel.

Relations between Caracas and Doha reached a new level of friendship and cooperation in June 2022, with the visit of President Maduro to the Middle Eastern country, as well as with the visit of the Qatari Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister , Mohammad bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, to Venezuela in March 2024.

Venezuela and Qatar established diplomatic relations on May 24, 1973, reinforced by Commander Hugo Chávez starting in 1999. Both countries maintain close cooperation ties in strategic areas ranging from agriculture to investment.
