The Minister of Popular Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, held a meeting this Thursday with the resident coordinator of the United Nations (UN) in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Gianluca Rampolla.
Through his Telegram channel, the foreign minister explained that the meeting was held “with the objective of strengthening our cooperation, based on respect for sovereignty and on the leadership of the organized Venezuelan people.”
During the meeting, the Venezuelan diplomat once again expressed to the UN representative “concerns about military threats affecting the Caribbean”, in reference to the deployment of U.S. warships and extrajudicial executions in the region, under the false pretext of the fight against drug trafficking.
Gil also stressed “the urgency for the United Nations system to adopt a firm stance in the defense of our Latin American region as a Zone of Peace and respect for the Charter of the United Nations by all States.”
