Foreign Minister Yván Gil: Venezuela has not ceased its defense of the Essequibo territory

During the opening of the Forum “60 Years of the Geneva Agreement: Validity, Legality and Historical Position of Venezuela”,‎el People's Power Minister for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil Pinto, reiterated Venezuela's right to the territory of Guiana Essequiba.
‎Desde the “Antonio José de Sucre” Yellow House, the foreign minister reiterated that the “only binding legal instrument to resolve the historical territorial dispute between Venezuela and the Cooperative Republic of Guyana” is the Geneva Agreement, while reaffirming that “according to history, according to the titles, according to our independence and our sovereignty”, this territory belongs to the Bolivarian nation.
‎Precisó that Venezuela has not ceased “in all its ages, in all its history”, to maintain that position.
‎Además, Minister Gil ratified the will of the "Bolivarian Government to continue moving forward through diplomatic channels, through direct understanding between the parties to resolve this controversy”.
‎ “That's why we want today before the diplomatic corps, before Venezuelan society, to once again reaffirm the values, the principles that inspired this agreement and that today are more valid than ever in a complex world (...) We are once again betting on diplomacy and the Geneva Agreement is the valid instrument,” he said.
