The People's Power Minister for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, reported that during the Ministerial Meeting of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) held today in Tegucigalpa, there was extensive discussion about regional and international geopolitics and the future of this regional group of nations.

“On behalf of President Nicolás Maduro, we have advocated strengthening ties between our peoples, consolidating a united position in the face of the global threat of fascism, trade war and unilateral economic sanctions. This meeting should inspire us to find the necessary strength and courage to dialogue and face today's most pressing challenges, beyond reaching a mere consensus on issues that do not generate controversy and that are already part of the founding principles of CELAC. Let's embrace our diversity and reaffirm our commitment to the institutionalization of regional integration,” stressed the Venezuelan diplomat.

During the day, the delegations of the 33 member States of the organization analyzed the work of Honduras at the head of CELAC during the past year, in which 16 meetings of foreign ministers were held.
