The Permanent Committee on Foreign Policy, Sovereignty and Integration of the National Assembly (AN) unanimously approved the appointment of Franklin Ramírez and Nabil Abdul as ambassadors of Venezuela to Belarus and the United Arab Emirates, according to the website of the Legislative Branch.
Ramírez said that his lines of work include promoting and forming the Latin American and Caribbean Group (Grulac), promoting educational and scientific exchange; in addition to guaranteeing consular care for Venezuelans living in Belarus.
For his part, Nabil Abdul will assume a plan in the United Arab Emirates in matters related to energy, economic and commercial areas; with the most attention being those of construction, cement, iron and steel; he will also address the agricultural area in order to direct the export of Venezuelan cocoa and coffee to meet Emirati demand.
The vice-president of the commission, deputy Ilenia Medina, said that the role that Belarus plays in the world is essential, and its relations with Venezuela are close based on the ideological-political affinity of always advocating peace and respect for sovereignty for the development of both nations.
As for the Arab Emirates, he said that the bilateral relationship is due to its participation in the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC); which has allowed it to leverage itself in financial, tourism, science and technology; areas that are otherwise compatible with the field of development being carried out by Venezuela.
“Although the Executive and the Legislature have the obligation to guarantee the sovereignty of Venezuela through their international relations completely and absolutely, so will they be, to denounce unilateral coercive measures, the promotion of peace, international law and the defense of the truth of Venezuela through their representatives to Belarus and the United Arab Emirates,” he said.
