Yesterday, the Standing Committee on Foreign Policy, Sovereignty and Integration of the National Assembly (AN) unanimously approved the appointment of Gladys Gutiérrez Alvarado as Venezuelan ambassador to the Government of Spain.
The first vice-president of the commission, deputy Ilenia Medina, considered it important to include in Gutiérrez's diplomatic agenda the dissemination of the truth about Venezuela about the Essequibo territory, according to a press release published on the AN website.
Medina's proposal is framed in the recent enactment of the Organic Law for the Defense of Guiana Essequiba. It considers it pertinent to promote these regulations as a reference for resolving territorial and sovereign conflicts.
He stated that “the opening of spaces for debate for those who intend to tarnish the image and dignity of the Venezuelan people should be another task on the diplomatic agenda of the embassy in Spain, in addition to efforts in the economic and consular spheres.”
For his part, the deputy Saúl Ortega, recommended maintaining the level of attention to migrants since they are victims of aggressions against Venezuela, so they need to know that they have a helping hand in the embassy and consulate.
In addition, Deputy Nosliw Rodríguez highlighted the experience of Ambassador Gutiérrez, which is of vital importance in defending Venezuela from attacks by extremist sectors in the face of the upcoming Presidential Elections.
