Two former Venezuelan soldiers from the Bolivarian National Guard confirmed the participation of the former president of Colombia, Iván Duque, and members of his government, in the failed Operation Gideon, which aimed to overthrow and assassinate President Nicolás Maduro in 2018.
Juvenal Sequea and Rayder Russo, are the former military officials who are detained in Colombia and who assumed their responsibilities in these events and also judicially denounced the participation of the former president of New Granada.
“All the actions we were doing in Riohacha were clear that the Colombian government was aware of everything that was happening (...) The police were passing by the places and talking to them,” Sequea said, according to information from Colombian media outlet WRadio.
For his part, Russo confessed that after a meeting with Duque, coordination began with Colombia's National Intelligence Directorate (DNI). In turn, he indicated that, days before the incursion, they already had relations with the army in the Guajira camp.
At the same time, he assured that the Colombian military collaborated with the plan, until the Russian government denounced Colombia's collaboration in the coup attempt.
In addition, Sequea reiterated that he always maintained communication with Colombian intelligence agencies. “They were aware of everything that was happening,” he reaffirmed.
Recall that Sequea and Russo were captured in the city of Bogotá and have been linked to Yacsi Alexandra Álvarez, who is known to be the group's logistics coordinator.
In addition, it is important to mention that the Canadian-American mercenary, Jordan Goudreau, recently declared that both Duque and Álvaro Uribe were part of the terrorist plan called “Operation Gideon”, which was led by Juanito Alimaña (Juan Guaidó) and Leopoldo López.
