Francisco Garcés is sworn in by the Earthquake Technical Advisory Committee for national reconstruction after the earthquake

This Monday, September 07, the Minister of People's Power for Transportation (MPPT), Francisco Garcés, swore in the Technical Advisory Committee on the Earthquake, made up of professionals from Civil Engineering and Seismology, who will draft the emergency standard that will be used for national reconstruction after the earthquakes of 24J.

This was reported by Garcés on his account on the social network Instagram, in which he explained that “although the Earthquake Resistant Regulation 1756 -2019 remains in force, based on the scientific data collected, a complementary code will be established that will allow new buildings to have design values based on what this Commission establishes”.

He stressed that in addition, “we will support the preparation of repair projects that are requested of us”.

In this regard, he specified that “we are talking about a significant number of buildings that must be evaluated in detail to establish repair projects, either private or with the intervention of the Presidential Commission.”

“So far, phase 1 of Habitability has 63,179 rapid inspections, of which 36,698 showed a green label, 14,900 yellow and 11,561 with a red color,” he said.

Garcés called on Engineering and Architecture specialists and students who are in the last year of their careers to join phases 2 and 3, aimed at the design and execution of repair projects, who will receive training to obtain accreditation and the subsequent assignment of projects.
