Francisco Garcés: Ministry of Commerce will authorize inspection of elevators by independent technicians

The president of the Presidential Commission to Evaluate the Habitability of Housing and Infrastructure, Francisco Garcés, reported that the Ministry of Popular Power for Industries and National Commerce, in the coming days, will issue a transitory provision, aimed at authorizing condominiums and landlords to hire qualified external technical personnel for the inspection and certification of elevators.

In a publication on his Instagram account, Garcés, at a press conference, explained that the measure seeks to expedite technical certification procedures in the country, specifically in the seven states affected by the double earthquake of June 24.

In this regard, he assured that the inhabitants of each building will be able to select professionals they trust to evaluate their equipment, assuming responsibility and decision for the process, provided that they notify the result to the corresponding municipal authority.

He added that the signed document will serve as a formal guarantee to keep the lifting equipment in order and in service before the local administration, temporarily easing the usual requirements of the official registration of the regulatory institution.

“With this instrument delivered to the Mayor's Office, it supports the technical option, regardless of whether or not you are enrolled in SENCAMER, and this compass is opened in such a way that the large number of people who need this certification can do so,” he said.
