The Cultural Cabinet of the state of Mérida launched an initiative aimed at the rescue, promotion and dissemination of traditional Venezuelan games in educational institutions and communities, with the purpose of revaluing these expressions as part of the country's intangible heritage and popular culture.

The program seeks to connect new generations with their cultural roots and prevent these traditions from disappearing in the face of the rise of technologies and generational changes. To this end, a pedagogical workshop is developed, complemented by an exhibition on the origin and evolution of traditional games in Venezuela.

Cultural promoters Alejandro Carrero and Rafael Verdú lead this experience in different schools, applying a comprehensive methodology that combines theory and practice.

“We are rescuing and promoting popular culture activities that were being forgotten. It's vital that the kids know our roots and play with what belongs to us since ancient times,” said Carrero.

He also highlighted that each workshop lasts approximately two hours and is aimed at groups of up to 50 participants. In addition, he specified that the program includes a section dedicated to the development of traditional games with recycled materials, a proposal that combines creativity, environmental awareness and sustainability.
