From the heart of the Merida paramo, the seed team of scientists from the Ministry of Science and Technology was deployed in the San Isidro de Apartaderos sector to carry out an exhaustive assessment of the damage caused by a recent hydrogeomorphological event, reported the sector's vice-president of Science, Technology, Education and Health, Gabriela Jiménez.
Through his Telegram channel, he highlighted that this initiative is part of the Great Mother Earth Mission and responds directly to the mandate of President Nicolás Maduro to accompany the people from the territory. During the day, knowledge was shared with the community about how geology, rains and slopes shape the behavior of mountain ecosystems and their associated risks.
“True defense begins with the organized strength of the community,” Jiménez said, while reaffirming the need to implement early warning systems as key tools to anticipate future contingencies and protect both lives and assets.
In Apartaderos, more than environmental awareness was sown: the link between science and people was strengthened, recognizing the mettle of the Andean people as the engine of the transformation that drives the Bolivarian Revolution.
“We will turn this challenge into an opportunity. The reconstruction will go beyond the physical: it will also be spiritual and communal, in sync with our Mother Earth,” Jiménez stressed.
