According to reports from the Russian platform Kaspersky, Venezuela was the country on the continent most cyberattacked in the last month, the Minister for Science and Technology, Gabriela Jiménez, reported during her participation in the forum “What is happening in Venezuela? Psychological operations in the country”.
In his paper “Computer Attacks, the Other Side of Unconventional Warfare”, he noted that scientific research revealed that Venezuela has received millions of bot attacks to destabilize public institutions.
An example of this, according to a press release from the Science and Technology portfolio, are the attacks recorded on the platforms of public institutions of the State Anonymous National Telephone Company of Venezuela (Cantv), the National Electoral Council (CNE), among others.
“These attacks were directed at critical and sensitive systems of the Republic, that is, at the State's institutionality to affect coexistence and daily life (...) We have the cyberattacks that are real on the website of the Ministry of Tourism, on the SENIAT page, to affect tax collection, to the Social Security page, so that our 6 and a half million retired grandparents and grandmothers do not receive pensions, to the Patria System page, which is a technological platform for well-being socio-economic of our families, of our communities, and to the most important and vital services in the country such as the National Electricity System,” he said.
In addition to these attacks, he explained, media manipulation through social networks, censorship of international media, and censorship in state applications such as VenApp.
The also Sectorial Vice President of Science, Technology, Education and Health indicated that these sources of violence that have occurred in the country are due to a fascist plan generated by the Venezuelan opposition to ignore the electoral results in which President Nicolás Maduro Moros was victorious.
As part of this fascist plan, Minister Gabriela Jiménez Ramírez warned, 116 schools, high schools and Early Childhood Education Centers, as well as 30 health centers in the country, were vandalized and set on fire during “spontaneous demonstrations”.
Faced with the scenario of violence, Minister Gabriela Jiménez Ramírez urged the Venezuelan people to maintain peace, harmony and rescue Venezuela.
