Democratizing information and communication technologies (ICT) to address fascist violence against the country, promoted from foreign digital platforms, is of vital importance, said Gabriela Jiménez Ramírez, the sector's vice-president of Science, Technology and Health.
During her participation in the National Congress of the Historical, Bolivarian, Popular, Chavista and Socialist Bloc of the 21st century, which took place at the headquarters of CANTV, the minister also urged the development of digital skills.
In this regard, he stressed that telecommunications, information technologies and digital media do not recognize borders, everything is in the cloud, so citizens have to do an exercise to consciously develop, create, train ourselves in digital skills for the new time.
“The world we have to face is a world that is governed by telecommunications. The democratization of information technologies is indispensable. We have to create our own content so as not to consume the enemy's content,” he said.
He added that the exercise of sovereignty in telecommunications includes research, development and spaces for socializing the use of information and communication technologies.
“This exercise must include a profound accelerated agenda for the development of free software in Venezuela so that we have millions of Venezuelans defending our truth, our future, our future,” he said.
He also noted that in the process of democratization of science and technology, “youth must be incorporated, because they are digital natives.”
