Gaiteros del Zulia champion of the first Professional Basketball Super League Cup

Gaiteros del Zulia won the Super League Professional Basketball Cup (SPB), after beating Cocodrilos de Caracas in the Grand Final at José Joaquín “Papa” Carrillo in Miranda Park 86-78.

Gaiteros took the lead at the start, taking advantage of 11 (21-10). The Saurians were adjusted and discounted so that the Furreros will take the first quarter 25-24, SPB press review.

Crocodiles fought back in the second quarter and the capitalinos won the set 16-22 and went to the break up 41-46.

In the third quarter, Gaiteros scored 29 points against 16 for Crocodiles, to reach the fourth quarter up 70-62. The last period ended tied at 16, for the Zulian team to take the 86-78 victory.

For Gaiteros, the following stood out: Miguel Simón with 16 points, 9 rebounds, one assist; Jesse Zarzuela with 19 points, 4 triples, 3 assists, one steal and Luis Duarte with 8 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists, one steal.

For his part, Alejandro Bernal was the best for Cocodrilos with 15 points, 5 rebounds, one assist and one steal.

Gaiteros del Zulia became the first champion of the SPB Cup, a tournament that was created for this 2026 season.
