With an emotional tribute, the National Art Gallery (GAN) inaugurated the exhibition “60 Years of Tulio Márquez”, to pay tribute to the Venezuelan plastic artist born in San Juan de Unare, Sucre state, who had a peculiar line, characterized by very expressive lines and made from modest materials such as graphite, charcoal and carbon on cardboard.
The exhibition shows 24 faces, with titles that identify them as “Naive”, “Curious”, “Surprised”, “Attractive”, “Determined”, “Sensitive”, “Elegant”, among others. The beauty in these faces captivated the eyes of renowned critics and art specialists who wrote about the Venezuelan artist's work.
The artist, Antonio Lanza, referred to Tulio Márquez as a creator capable of causing inspiration due to his outstanding technique, also cataloguing him as an artist full of poetry in each of his works. “Tulio paints with his soul, the most sublime tenderness emerges from his elegant figures and their faces evidence an artist full of poetry, so the teacher inspires and attracts with his impressive technique,” he said.
