The National Art Gallery (GAN) invites the general public to a specialized guided tour, which will include the exhibition “Graphopolis between two centuries. Art doesn't stop” with curator Félix Hernández, starting this Wednesday, August 14, at 2 in the afternoon, at exhibition level I of the art venue.
The Grafópolis group was created in 1985, in the heat of the vindictive struggles that took place at the institution where its members studied, the “Cristóbal Rojas” School of Visual Arts, which was enduring a historic crisis and motivated an act of conscience in this group, together with the conviction to organize to defend it, while taking advantage of associative behavior to conquer their most cherished ideals and desires.
After the dissolution of the group and after a period of waiting for nearly three decades, in 2019, some of its former members relive this aesthetic experience by regrouping as the Grafópolis Collective. The collective has proposed an interdisciplinary work, in which its members meet based on projects, and is open to the participation of other personalities who identify with the nature of the group and wish to join these projects.
The exhibition that is being exhibited today includes its permanent members, such as: Yrina Gutiérrez, Reddy González, Enrique Camarinha, Antonio Castillo, Pasión Morales, Hugo Mariño and Manuel Matheus. The exhibition is also accompanied by a group of pieces by the esteemed colleague and friend of the collective Luis Galíndez.
