The director general of the Gaza Ministry of Health, Munir al-Barsh, reported that the anemia rate in children under one year old reaches 82%, a figure that compromises their development and survival.
The director general stressed that the lack of food and medicine has increased cases in the Strip, where children are at risk of suffering complications that compromise their physical and cognitive functions.
Al-Barsh accused Israel of having reduced the entry of supplements and essential drugs for pediatric care programs, which has doubled diagnoses, especially in newborns and children who do not have access to milk and a balanced diet.
The official reported that the measures applied are aimed at deteriorating children's health and generating permanent consequences for the besieged population.
The expert warned that the health system lacks the vitamins, dietary supplements and injections necessary to meet the growing demand for treatments against anemia.
