The spokesman for the Civil Defense of the Palestinian enclave, Mahmoud Basal, reported that around 8,000 bodies remain buried under rubble in the Gaza Strip, while more than 3,000 people are still reported missing.

According to information from RT, the spokesman specified that, in the case of the disappeared, there is no accurate information about their whereabouts. “It is unknown if they are alive, martyrs or prisoners,” he said.

According to the official balance sheet of the enclave authorities, the war with Israel, which began in October 2023, has left more than 72,000 people dead and more than 171,000 injured, figures that include records after the ceasefire came into force.

The authorities indicated that, despite the truce announced last October, it has been violated on several occasions, causing at least 591 additional deaths and 1,598 injuries, which aggravates the already critical humanitarian situation in the Palestinian territory.
