The Gaza Health Ministry has reported that 713 bodies have been found under the rubble of structures destroyed since the beginning of the truce with Israel, on October 10.
According to the balance sheet, the teams continue to search the destroyed areas to locate the mortal remains accumulated in the previous months, Prensa Latina reported.
The head of the Civil Protection rescue teams in the province of Gaza, Ibrahim Abu Al-Reesh, indicated that between Saturday and Sunday, between 55 and 60 bodies were found. He explained that they were all taken to Al-Shifa hospital to be identified and later handed over to their families. In cases where it is not possible to recognize them, they will be buried in the Cemetery of the Unknown Martyrs, in Deir al-Balah.
Abu Al-Reesh stated that the lack of machinery, equipment and means of transport limits search operations and attributed this situation to restrictions imposed by Israel. He also warned about the health risks derived from the decomposition of corpses and the lack of protective equipment for personnel.
The spokesman for Gaza's Civil Protection, Mahmoud Basal, estimated that more than 10,000 people remain buried under the more than 61 million tons of rubble estimated by the United Nations Agency for the Assistance and Occupation of Palestinian Refugees in the Middle East.
