With an exhibition of more than 240 highly genetic specimens, Zaraza, in the state of Guárico, is the XXXIII Agricultural, Agroindustrial and Artisanal Fair of the Unare River Basin 2026, a regional reference event that takes place from February 14 to 17, consolidating itself as the productive heart of the entity's carnival season.

The official opening, at the Pedro Zaraza General Fair Park, was led by Mayor Carlos Castillo and the president of the organizing committee, Tania Romero, who were accompanied by Professor Flor Hernández de Hernández, who reviewed Latest News on their website.

This annual showcase is a tribute to livestock efforts and to the soul of Guarique folklore. The event is part of the agenda for the 60th anniversary of the Venezuelan Plains Tourism Carnival, festivities that since 2020 have been Cultural Heritage of the Guárico State, in recognition of its priceless tradition and social roots.

The livestock exhibition offers a diverse and robust sample that includes cattle, pigs, horses and others. “There is a fairly representative sample of breeds that exalts livestock,” Romero said.

According to the authorities, the 2026 edition brings together 36 exhibitors. 70% of the pavilion is represented by local producers, while the rest comes from four neighboring municipalities and the states of Monagas, Bolívar and Anzoátegui.

The program of the fair this year includes cattle judging, milking contests (primiparous and multiparous categories), weight-weight competitions, agroproductive scientific conferences and the traditional Parade of Champions.

During the inauguration ceremony, the Zaracean president conferred the Municipal Order “Professor Pedro Celestino Hernández Reyes” to a select group of producers, whose trajectory and dedication have been fundamental to the agricultural development of the region.

The award was created at the initiative of Mayor Carlos Castillo to honor the legacy of Professor Hernández Reyes, an emblematic figure and co-founder of the local carnival and the entity's livestock tradition.

Among the winners are: Leidy Dorante, the Honorary President of the 33rd Agricultural Fair; Humberto Aragort, Nicolás Ramos, Manolo Fares, Daniel Nasser, José Leonardo La Grecca, Javier Rondón and Edgar Ramos.

The recognition not only celebrates individual productivity, but also symbolizes the resilience of a sector that constitutes the backbone of the economy in the Guarique territory.

The program of the XXXIII Zaraza Agricultural Fairs included this Sunday, February 15, the weighting competition of male and female specimens. Then the trial of meat cattle and their crosses was held, closing the day with the competition for the best driver in this category.

This Monday, the 16th, the schedule will begin at 8:00am with the IV Agroproductive Scientific Conference. Starting at 4:00pm, the focus will be on dual-purpose dairy farming with their respective courts and the best milker competition. The day's activities will culminate at 8:00pm with the election of the best dairy driver.

For the grand closing on Tuesday 17th, the public will be able to enjoy various cultural and musical activities from 2:00pm, followed by the exciting rodeo contest and equine trial exhibition. The fairs will formally conclude with the traditional parade of champions, the award ceremony and the closing ceremony.
