Family members of Venezuelan migrants kidnapped by El Salvador,
under the auspices of the United States government, met with the
Secretariat of the Working Group on Arbitrary Detention, a specialized
agency of the United Nations, located in the city of Geneva, in
Switzerland.
The presence of this group of family members, and legal advisors, responds
to the delivery of a letter to that instance with 69 cases of
kidnapped migrants, “from which a prompt response is expected
to allow for the initiation of relevant investigations,” said Yuemili Velazco, the
lawyer of the Angostura Law Firm.
For their part, the relatives indicated that each of them was
received and listened to by the Group, which they requested will come to El
Salvador to verify their mental and physical health status.
They also asked the Salvadoran president, Nayib Bukele, to provide a list of those
kidnapped to facilitate the process with the Working Group.
