The German Chancellor, Olaf Scholz, urged voters not to let the owners of social networks decide in the early elections of 2025, following statements by Elon Musk, in which he supported the far-right Alternative for Germany (AFD) party.
“The future of Germany will be decided by you, the citizens,” Scholz said, stressing the importance of citizen participation in the electoral process, adding that sometimes it seems that extreme opinions receive more attention, which can be misleading.
The politician also stressed that the fate of German society “will depend on the vast majority of reasonable and decent people”. Therefore, it is essential that citizens remain calm and common sense.
Recently, the German Government has accused Elon Musk of trying to influence the early parliamentary elections scheduled for February 2025.
