The Foreign Minister of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Yván Gil, at the 3rd Meeting of the Group of Friends in Defense of the Charter of the United Nations - held in New York City - warned that, at the slightest aggression against Venezuelan territory, a catastrophe would break out in the region of Latin America and the Caribbean.

In this regard, he recalled that Venezuela insists on dialogue for the resolution of differences, and added that the nation maintains the “path of dialogue, a path of diplomacy, a path of understanding, even with those, who have systematically violated the United Nations Charter.”

He reiterated that Venezuela is a peaceful country, but an aggression is being prepared with greater force and in perfect unity, referring to the escalation of imperial aggression; at the same time he assured that a conflict against Venezuelan territory would turn into a catastrophe for an entire region.

He also rejected the fact that the Government of the United States has “accused our president Nicolás Maduro Moros of being the sponsor of a series of crimes that have been fully denied by parties, including United Nations reports . And we know that the objective of this deployment is none other than to appropriate Venezuela's resources and promote regime change in the country, all in violation of the United Nations Charter.”

In addition, he rejected the speech of the President of the United States, Donald Trump, to the UN, stating that “he has mocked each and every one of the norms that have been established for 80 years to live together in the international community.”
