Given the increase in temperatures that can reach 41 degrees Celsius, the National Meteorology and Hydrology Service (SENAMHI), activated an orange alert in six departments of the Plurinational State of Bolivia, effective until next Wednesday, September 25.
According to forecasts, maximum temperatures will exceed their usual average, to reach values in the range of 36 to 41 degrees Celsius. This meteorological condition favors the spread of heat sources and impacts the territories most affected by forest fires, the Telesur website reported.
The measure will take effect in the departments of La Paz, Santa Cruz, Cochabamba, Beni, Tarija and Chuquisaca, which have a serious situation with respect to active points.
The provinces of Andrés Ibáñez, Warnes, Ichilo, Sara, Santiesteban, Chiquitos, Guarayos, Ñuflo de Chávez, Velasco, Ángel Sandoval, Germán Busch and Cordillera, belonging to Santa Cruz, are in a state of alert.
Meanwhile, in Beni, temperatures are expected to rise in the areas of Marbán, Moxos, Cercado, Iténez, Mamoré, the south of Yacuma and the south of Ballivián.
“A significant level of threat”, says SENAMHI for La Paz, especially in the north of Abel Iturralde province. On equal terms are Chapare, from Cochabamba, and Luis Calvo, from Chuquisaca.
To face the critical situation, both for the inhabitants and for the local ecosystem, Bolivia received a Canadian tanker plane, as well as a group of European experts and firefighters.
