Government of Miranda activates five temporary camps in Guarenas to serve affected families

The governor of the state of Miranda, Elio Serrano, reported on the establishment of five temporary camps in the Plaza municipality (Guarenas) with the purpose of providing comprehensive care to families who lost their homes or are in a vulnerable situation after the double earthquake that occurred last June 24.

The temporary protection centers are distributed to provide immediate coverage to the sectors that registered the highest levels of material damage in the town, specifically in Oropeza Castillo, Las Clavellinas, Vicente Emilio Sojo and Trapichito, said Venezolana Televisión (VTV).

Each of these community spaces is fully equipped with beds, mattresses, sheets and personal hygiene modules, as well as health services, permanent medical assistance and prioritized care for older adults, children and adolescents.

“We are guaranteeing food and basic services so that families can cope with this difficult situation. These spaces have allowed us to sincerely carry out the censuses; however, we know that there are still about 200 families outside the camps and solidarity shelters. For this reason, we are increasing the number of technical inspections by sector to know the real number of affected homes,” Serrano said when evaluating the logistics deployment in the jurisdiction.

In addition, the regional president announced that, if required by the communities, new camps will be opened that strictly comply with all the conditions of habitability and shelter.

The regional authority pointed out that these future operational expansions will include comprehensive health care services, specialized psychological support for the management of post-traumatic stress and even organized schemes for the care of the pets of affected citizens.
