This Thursday, the Spanish government launched the deadline for submitting applications as part of the extraordinary regularization process for migrants, a measure of great social significance that will allow some 500 thousand people to obtain residence and work permits.

This initiative seeks to formally integrate those who reside in the country in an irregular administrative situation, allowing them to access the full extent of their labor rights and obligations, after years of residing in the national territory without a recognized legal status.

The process is strictly aimed at foreign citizens who have no criminal record and who can prove their stay in Spain for at least five months before the end of 2025.

In addition, the State has contemplated the inclusion of those asylum seekers who had formalized their request for international protection by December 31, thus ensuring that a wide range of people in situations of administrative vulnerability can normalize their status in the country under the criteria established by the Ministry.

To facilitate the management of this volume of files, the authorities have enabled the electronic processing system, allowing requests to be made in an agile manner over the internet.

To guarantee access to those who prefer physical management, a wide deployment of face-to-face care has been arranged, which will begin on April 20 by appointment, reinforcing the response capacity of public administrations at the points of greatest demand and facilitating compliance with the procedure for all groups.

Direct attention to citizens will be centralized in the Foreign Offices of Madrid, Alicante, Valencia, Almería and Murcia, although the national support network will be much more extensive to avoid unnecessary travel.

In total, 60 Social Security offices and 371 post offices have been set up, strategically located in provincial capitals and cities with more than 50,000 inhabitants, with the objective of making this regularization process the most efficient and accessible mechanism in the recent history of the Spanish administration.
