Government of Venezuela awards “Heroes of Venezuela” award to a brigade of rescuers from Spain

In recognition of their courageous, tireless and supportive service in search and rescue operations, the national government formally awarded the Heroes of Venezuela Award to the Spanish rescue brigade and its canine rescue units, after successfully completing their admirable humanitarian deployment in the national territory.

The award of this important award was made on behalf of the president in charge, Delcy Rodríguez, as an institutional tribute to the laudable efforts made by the European contingent in locating survivors, reunifying families and renewing hope among communities affected by the earthquakes of last June 24.

The Minister of Popular Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, stressed that the technical staff and rescue dogs of the Spanish delegation worked heroically and in coordination with the national security and rescue forces on the most complex fronts, demonstrating a very high level of professionalism, selflessness and detachment in the field.

All the Venezuelan people express their sincerest gratitude from the bottom of their hearts to this valuable international team and its canine specimens for their unconditional delivery during the days of contingency. With this award, the Venezuelan State praises the deep ties of brotherhood and bilateral cooperation activated to safeguard the lives of citizens.
