Government of Zulia certifies cheese route in Rosario de Perijá

The government of the state of Zulia certified the cheese route as a tourist route in the municipality of Rosario de Perijá, located in the mountains of the same name, and the topic of interest is cheese as an artisanal, industrial, gastronomic and cultural product in the region of Lake Coquivacoa.

According to the sole tourism authority in Zulia, Irama Salazar, the route seeks to empower the Rosario de Perijá municipality as the major cheese producer in western Venezuela.

“This is a significant achievement for the sector. We are opening a new window of possibilities to showcase our culture and let the whole world know that Rosario de Perijá produces the best cheeses in the country,” said Salazar, quoted in a regional press release.

According to Salazar, this new cheese route will boost agritourism, the commercialization of regional products and will cooperate in positioning the Perijá brand as synonymous with gastronomic excellence.
