Government of Zulia launches water plan in the entity

This Monday, the April 2026 water plan began for the execution of 19 works in the 21 municipalities of the state of Zulia, with the objective of raising the standards of quantity and quality of water resources for the population.
This was reported by Governor Luis Caldera from the facilities of the Water Treatment Plant C in Maracaibo, which manages the Hydrological of the Lake (HIDROLAGO), detailed a regional press release.
The regional president specified that the plan will be carried out in direct coordination with the Ministry of the People's Power for Water Care ; it includes comprehensive intervention in the treatment systems and aqueducts of Tulé-Manuelote-Tres Ríos, El Brillante, Machango and Burro Negro, directly benefiting an estimated population of 2,140,000 inhabitants in the metropolitan area alone.
The governor inspected the comprehensive maintenance work in Plant C that seek to optimize the physico-chemical and biological monitoring processes of water. Improvements include the strengthening of laboratories and the use of high-tech chlorination systems for disinfection. It also verified the operation of the mixing, sedimentation and filtration reactors, essential for supplying the municipalities of Maracaibo, San Francisco and Jesús Enrique Lossada.
The water plan also prioritizes the recovery of infrastructure on the Eastern Shore of the Lake and the South of the Lake. In Maracaibo, the plan envisages the construction of the Cacique Nigale and Core 3 pumping stations in the short term, aimed at improving flow in the Coquivacoa and Juana de Ávila parishes.
