With a total of 17 children's cases of otorhinolaryngology, in the municipalities of Maracaibo, Jesús Enrique Lossada and Valmore Rodríguez, the Pediatric Surgical Plan of Zulia 2026 was resumed, the Government of the entity reported on its account on the social network Instagram.

The operations were performed last weekend at no cost at the Veritas Children's Hospital, recovered by the Cayapa Health Plan last year, and in the pavilions of the Military Hospital of Maracaibo TCNEL Dr. Francisco Valbuena.

The first lady of Zulia, Roselyn López de Caldera, accompanied the child patients and their parents together with the entity's single health authority and Secretary of Health, Luz Mely Caldera, highlighting the coordinated work between the institutions.

“Together with the Military Hospital, we confirm our commitment to guarantee free comprehensive health,” he said.

For her part, the head of Health in Zulia, Luz Mely Caldera, stressed that the entity's health team is dedicated to providing solutions in the surgical area to all pediatric patients in conjunction with the different levels of government and the Bolivarian National Armed Force (FANB), through the Cayapa Health Plan.

“We want them to have a strengthened National Public Health System, to be confident that they can reach the emergency of an institution and they will have the quality and decent care that we all deserve. Health is our flag and here is a revolutionary government committed to the health of this country,” he said.

In addition, in the San Francisco municipality south of Maracaibo, the surgical plan in the ophthalmology area was also resumed this weekend with another 60 cataract surgeries, according to an informative report from the city council.

With these surgeries, the program reaches 610 people who have benefited, who have recovered their vision.

From the El Silencio Type III Urban Outpatient Clinic Center, Yohendry Luzardo, director of the Municipal Public Health Institute (IMSASUR) and the municipality's sole health authority, pointed out that this plan not only represents a medical procedure, but a real opportunity for independence, well-being and dignity for older adults and people with visual conditions who undergo free surgery.

“Seeing the smile of our people when they recover their sight is the best engine for continuing to work. We kicked off 2026 with a bang, adding 60 new interventions to reach 610 homes where today there is hope and clarity. We will not stop until every San Franciscan who needs it is treated, as our mayor Héctor Soto has instructed us,” he said.

The “San Francisco, How Good You Look” Plan, as announced by the National Surgical Plan in the southern municipality, will continue during the year 2026 with the vision of expanding the range of care for other ophthalmic conditions and the goal of reaching 1,800 patients treated.
