The governor of the state of Táchira, Freddy Bernal, formally presented to the National Assembly (AN) this Tuesday, May 12, the project for the creation of the Binational Border Economic Zone, an initiative that seeks to establish a solid legal and commercial framework to promote exchange between Venezuela and Colombia, boosting regional economic growth.
He stressed that this plan is the result of a collective effort between various sectors of the Andean state. The meeting represents a crucial step for the economic integration and legal security of investors in the border area.
Bernal argued that this is not an improvised idea, but rather “the need for the Binational Border Economic Zone, a plan developed methodically and systematically over several years.” The document will be evaluated by the Finance and Development Commissions and the National Security and Defense Commissions of the AN.
He reaffirmed that the proposal has as its central objective to attract capital and to energize the most active border in Latin America. The Binational Border Zone is part of a comprehensive development project that seeks to transform local economic dynamics, facilitating trade and creating new job opportunities.
Bernal was accompanied by a high-level commission that integrated various sectors of Tachirense society. Among the participants were representatives of FEDECAMARA Táchira, the Chamber of Industry and Commerce of Táchira , delegates of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and university rectors, “we present the dream and a shared work of all the people Tachirense”.
