The Governor of the state of Carabobo, Rafael Lacava, announced that significant progress is being made to combat cryptocurrency mining farms in the face of the situation facing the Electric System.
At a press conference held in the Bolivar-Chávez Hall of the Capitol of Valencia, the regional president pointed out that the operation of these mining farms consume a high level of energy that ends up exceeding the electrical capacity of the system, which results in various blackouts that affect the good life of the population.
“Our electrical system has reported historic peaks in demand, creating problems due to situations that we all already know, such as the impossibility of buying spare parts as a result of sanctions and the increase in temperatures that increase the demand for megawatts, but there is also the existence of cryptocurrency mining machines, which consume high levels of energy and which, in addition to all of the above, collapse the electricity grid, that's why we have worked with all security agencies to combat this problem , especially in priority circuits, which is where strategic sites such as hospitals are located,” he said.
He also highlighted the joint effort of all government institutions to arrest those who carry out this practice considered a criminal offence affecting the power grid in the entity, in compliance with the guidelines established by President Nicolás Maduro and executed by the President in charge Delcy Rodríguez.
“I tell all those who are involved in these, we are going to go to the fullest extent of the law, we have already entered the contact number 0416-728-02-86 to make complaints about these practices where a reward is going to be awarded, know that here in Carabobo we are not going to allow our electrical system to collapse,” he said.
