Governor of Miranda confirms 8 dead and 22 injured by gas cylinder explosion in Petare

“Regarding the accident that occurred in Petare, we confirm that 22 people have been rescued and transferred to different health centers; an adult and two children were found unharmed and are taking refuge in a nearby house,” the governor of Miranda, Héctor Rodríguez, said Monday.

He noted that social care teams and security forces are staying in place, providing all possible support and assistance to victims and their families.

The regional president indicated that after the explosion of a gas cylinder, two houses are partially affected.

“Unfortunately, 8 people have died, including two babies. Our deepest condolences and solidarity to their families,” Rodríguez said in a press release from the Government of Miranda.
