Saturday, May 03, the governor of La Guaira, José Alejandro Terán, stressed that
thanks to the popular military police merger 5 years ago, Venezuela defeated the invasion
plans of imperialism and the right wing.
“On
these shores we will always remember and it will always be in our memory that in a popular-military-police union
in a defense strategy led mainly by the driver of
Victorias, our president and commander-in-chief of the
Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB), Nicolás Maduro (...) protected the Venezuelan people from an
event that was happening that morning,” he said, referring to the mercenary incursion of the right wing known as
Operation Gideon.
In this regard, he indicated that the extreme right was aimed at an insurrection with this
mercenary incursion to capture and assassinate President Maduro and other
authorities of the national government such as Diosdado Cabello.
This is
why he compared the events that occurred in Venezuela, which were supported
by imperialism, with those that months later they would carry out in Haiti. “Where a
group of mercenaries who were hired stormed the house
where the president of Haiti was by surprise and assassinated him to create chaos,
which is what they (imperialism and its lackeys) have as their
general purpose in our societies,” he said.
“Fortunately,
the conscience of this People, the preparation for the integral defense of the
nation, the Popular Intelligence systems of our glorious Bolivarian Militia,
the people in uniform and surely the immortal spirit of Hugo Chávez, who
continues to protect this sacred people, allowed the mechanisms of comprehensive defense to
be activated that morning and a very
important event took place, such as the popular, military and police fusion, was that what
which prevented the enemies of the Fatherland, from imperialism from having that success,” he said.
He reaffirmed the importance of commemorating the failed Operation Gideon, as part of the preservation of historical memory, so that young people do not forget their courage and courage for the defense of the Fatherland.
“We continue to have a homeland, a country in peace, that dreams and that builds its own destiny and its own future,” he said, recognizing the men and women who gave their lives in defense of the sovereignty of Venezuela.
